Poulpharm is looking for a Necropsy Technician (m/f) to support the veterinary pathologist in Belgium.

JOB description

As a member of staff in the post-mortem and diagnostic laboratory, you will support vets and colleagues in the day-to-day running of the post-mortem room and the laboratory.

You will be responsible for:
• Assisting with post-mortems carried out by vets
• Independently carrying out standardised sampling, primarily on poultry and pigs
• Caring for and monitoring live animals delivered for diagnostic testing
• Cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining the post-mortem room and equipment in accordance with applicable hygiene and biosafety procedures
• Managing stock and materials
• Processing samples administratively in the laboratory information system
• Maintaining contact with clients in the event of ambiguities or additional questions regarding requests and laboratory results
• Preparing and processing weekly, monthly and annual overviews of incoming samples and laboratory activities, including reporting for newsletters and annual reports.
• Helping to monitor turnaround times and contributing to the overall workflow of laboratory results

• You have a keen eye for order, tidiness and hygiene, and understand the importance of correct cleaning, disinfection and quality control procedures within an ISO-certified laboratory environment
• You are not put off by working in an autopsy environment, including contact with biological materials and strong odours
• Experience in handling poultry is an advantage
• You work accurately, take the initiative, ask questions proactively and work independently in both administrative and practical tasks
• You are eager to learn and willing to master new techniques and procedures
• You can switch flexibly and efficiently between different tasks and priorities
• You are proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
